The Engineering Academy of the Czech Republic (EACR) is an independent legal entity. It was established on February 7, 1995 in accordance with the Association Act (Act No. 83/1990 Coll.). In compliance with the New 2014 Civil Code (Act No. 89/2012 Coll.) the EACR is from January 1, 2014 regarded as an association.
The EACR associates members who have made significant contributions to engineering.
The common interest of members is the support and development of technical disciplines, development of technology, engineering education and research, development and innovations in these spheres aimed at the satisfaction of the technical, economical, social, environmental and cultural needs of the society.
The main activities of the EACR are research and development in the field of technology, innovations, engineering education and international cooperation within the framework of the European Union.
All other activitites of the EACR are focused on the support of the above main activities and consist in the development of technological and engineering disciplines, support and implementation of new technological concepts and knowledge in engineering practice, fostering of engineering education, preparation, implementation and assessment of engineeriing projects, popularization of the role of engineering education, technology and technological innovations in the society.
The EACR actively participates in the work of international organizations associating engineering academies CAETS (International Council of Academies of Engineering and Technological Sciences), and Euro-CASE (European Council of Applied Sciences and Engineering). The engagement of the EACR is based on the support of international cooperation in the field of technology and engineering education and implementation of the results and experience gained from such cooperation in the Czech Republic.
In 2001 the EACR established a specialized office, the Czech Knowledge Transfer Office, the principal aim of which is to contribute actively to the exploitation of information, knowledge and results of research and development in industry and namely in small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) with an aim to utilize them to enhance the growth of competitiveness of the national economy.
